Lifeguarding Certifications
Registration is NOW OPEN FOR 2024 Classes!
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification course is designed to provide participants the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer. The course covers safety skills, accident prevention, scanning, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, first aid in aquatic environments, spinal injury management, open water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool maintenance basics, and information on how to get a job as a lifeguard.
In addition to the ARC Lifeguard certification, participants will also be certified in CPR/First-Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuers. Course schedules are made prior to each course, however the instructor reserves the right to modify dates and times due to any unforeseen circumstances. All materials are provided, however students are responsible for their own bathing suit, towel, and writing utensils.
The YMCA hires lifeguard staff year-round. We also offer a scholarship program for individuals looking to complete their certification and work along side the YMCA as a Lifeguard.

100% attendance is MANDATORY (non-negotiable). Each class will consist of classroom and pool activities
The YMCA instructor reserves the right to dismiss participants based on their skill and/or maturity level
